Oxley Golf Club

Course Care and Conduct

Here at the Oxley Golf Club, we strive to create a safe and enjoyable environment for both Members and Visitors. The following are critical expectations regarding the use of the course and conduct while visiting and/or playing.

OXLEY GOLF CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

Respect our Venue Policies

Please respect our Course Care, Cart Usage and Course Safety instructions listed below. Management reserves the right to refuse access to the course or clubhouse for non-compliance.

Behaviour And Dress

Please conduct yourself in a respectful and responsible manner. Staff reserve the right to refuse service should your behaviour or dress become unorderly. See HERE for dress code regulations.

Respect Borrowed Equipment

Please return borrowed equipment in the same condition you received them and to their correct locations. Sand buckets are NOT to be left on the floor of the carpark.

Check-In Required Before Play

All members and visitors must check in with the Pro Shop 15 minutes prior to commencing their round.  This is not just a matter of procedure — it is essential for safety, insurance, and course management.  Playing without checking in creates unnecessary risks and may leave both the club and individual players exposed in the event of an incident, not to mention the fact that the course staff will not expect you to be on course.

Course Staff Have Right of Way

Please be reminded that all course staff — including greenskeepers and maintenance crews — have absolute right of way at all times.  Under no circumstances should shots be played in their direction while they are on the course performing their duties.  Their work is vital to the upkeep and quality of the course we all enjoy, and their safety is paramount.

Respect Towards Course Marshals

Any form of abuse or aggression towards course course marshals will not be tolerated. Our marshals are simply performing their role to help ensure everyone enjoys their round within a reasonable timeframe.  They are there for the benefit of all members.

Motorised Golf Cart Conditions

  • Maximum of 2 persons and 2 sets of clubs per cart
  • No standing on bumper bars
  • No driving within 5 metres of Greens
  • No driving on Tees
  • Avoid wet areas
  • No driving through marked off areas

Carts must always be driven on designated paths where available and must not be driven or parked on turf that is within 10 metres of a green. Keep to high and dry areas where possible, avoid low lying wet areas and do not ride along the edge of a path.

OXLEY GOLF CLUB COURSE CARE

In order to achieve and maintain playing surfaces at the Oxley Golf Club to the level that Members and Guests have come to expect, we ask that all those playing the course abide the following care of the course practices. It’s an initiative where all golfers, while enjoying their game of golf, also take great pride in the conditions of the golf course.

All Members & Guests are expected to uphold these requirements at all times:

Pitch Marks on Greens

Players should be diligent in looking for and repairing their own pitch marks on the greens plus at least one other. Pitch repairers are available from the Pro Shop or use a tee if you lose your repairer. Not sure how to repair a pitch mark? Click the image below or ask the Pro Shop staff for a demonstration next time you are at the club.

Divot Mark Repair

Sand fill is required to be used at the Oxley Golf Club, however players should attempt to repair their divots on the tees, fairway and rough areas by using an iron to “knock-in” the edges of divots which will assist with turf recovery. Not sure how to repair a divot? Ask the Golf Shop staff for a demonstration next time you are at the club.

Driving Range Etiquette

Always hit between the designated areas that are prepared with white rope. Return your bucket to the Pro Shop at the end of your practice/warm-up session. To extend the turf life and assist quicker re-growth, use the linear divot pattern as per the below guidelines:

Bunkers

Players should use the rakes available to restore the sand in a bunker after playing out. No one enjoys finding their ball at rest in a footprint or in front of a clump of sand in a bunker left by a player who has a low golf etiquette. Ensure that the sand is raked smooth and pushed back towards the middle of the bunker. Please do not leave the rake outside of the bunker. The rake should be placed inside the bunker in the direction of play. Use your club to knock off excess sand from your shoes before walking onto a fairway or green.

Trolleys

If using a pull trolley or electric buggy, do not walk between a green and a bunker. Take a wide berth to protect these narrow and delicate areas.

General Wear & Tear

Keep an eye out for high traffic areas where turf is well worn. Take a wide berth around these areas, especially when entering or exiting the concrete paths near the teeing area. Walk or driving through GUR and/or wet areas should be avoided if possible.

Pace of Play

The target time for 18 holes when playing in groups of four with no halfway stop is 4 hours 0 minutes. The R&A has a dedicated web page to Pace of Play and Members are strongly encouraged to educate themselves with the “Player Behaviour” section, by clicking here. Ready golf is strongly encouraged by the Club and permitted under the Rules of Golf (excluding match play format)
