Since Oxley Golf Club’s opening in 1928, the Club has established itself as a community of dedicated leaders & members, who invite the spirit of discovery, community, sincerity and development.
Oxley Golf Club has played an important role in the progress of golf in Brisbane with its many firsts in course development – excelling at providing an excellent course for all who wish to play.
In an annual report from 1944, the Club reported “In conclusion, the sound position in which the club finds itself is due to the splendid spirit of cooperation that exists amongst our members. If we go forward in the same spirit nothing can stand in the way of our progress.”
In 2003 for our 75th Anniversary, Australian Golf Union President A.J (John) Thorsten wrote, “Oxley is not just a golf course, it’s a golf club.” He praised Oxley Golf Club members highly for their strong club pride, noting “Oxley Golf Club has always had a very strong club spirit with the members only too happy to volunteer to help the club.”
As seen in the Club’s documentation, the social culture has always largely contributed to the success, spirit and identity of the Oxley Golf Club.
