In May 1928 two local businessmen showed tremendous vision when they called a public meeting in the Sherwood Parish Hall with the aim of building a golf course to service the needs of the residents of the Oxley, Sherwood and Graceville districts. At that meeting the Oxley Golf Club was formed and now, over 75 years later, the Club has become a mecca for golfers from all over Brisbane and beyond.

With its wide, lush fairways, gently undulating hills and a minimum of intrusive waterways, the course has established a reputation as Brisbane’s "user-friendly" golf course catering for all levels of golfing talent.

But despite its "user-friendly" tag, the course provides a mighty test of golf and has hosted many prestigious City, State and Australian titles. In 2003 the Oxley Golf Club hosted the Queensland Medal.
